HEALTHCARE FATIGUE FORUM 2026

The annual Healthcare Fatigue Forum is being held on 5th November 2026 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Hosted by Northumbria University and sponsored by FRMSc.

This year’s theme is:

“Implementing system change for patient safety”.

Topics include:

  • Regulation and governance of fatigue in aviation
  • Perspectives from HSSIB (Health Service Safety Investigation Branch) and HSE
  • Impacts of fatigue on patient safety, staff wellbeing and performance
  • Ways to inspire people to change systems and practices
  • Implementation of Fatigue Risk Management in the NHS

The event will be a mix of formal presentations, posters, workshops and small group discussions to allow for networking and shared learning.

The conference is relevant to decision makers, managers, clinicians, employees of health and social care organisations, including:

  • Primary and secondary care
  • Ambulance services
  • Independent organisations such as hospices
  • Private sector organisations
  • Academics
  • Healthcare Union representatives
